You need a tree to make slabs, take down trees and use the crafting to make slabs
Use the crafting table to make paper with sugarcanes as many as you need for 3 books.
Now you need to make books, for that you have to put 9 pages in the crafting table with 3 pieces of leather and after you put all of these in the crafting table, you will have a book. Repeat the process till you have 3 books in your inventory.
Now to make a bookshelf, place the 3 books you made in the middle lane of the crafting table and wooden planks surrounding it.
